Transfer Student Orientation, Advising & Registration (SOAR)
Welcome to our campus, transfer students! Your success is important to us, and we want to make sure your transition is seamless. That’s why we have prepared SOAR Sessions. The sessions are designed to give you clarity and confidence by providing:
- Essential Information: Key information to know about navigating your first semester.
- Campus Resources: An introduction to the services and support available to you.
- Hands-On Registration Help: Dedicated time with advisors to assist you with course registration.
Registration for Transfer Students
Welcome to the UH West O‘ahu community! Once you have submitted your Intent to Enroll, you may begin the process of registering for courses. Registration for new transfer students typically begins shortly after the current student registration period.
1. Submit Your Intent to Enroll
Your registration timeline depends on your transfer credit evaluation. To avoid delays, please submit your Intent to Enroll as soon as possible.
- Processing Time: It can take up to two weeks for your evaluation to be completed once your Intent to Enroll is received.
- Viewing Credits: Once finalized, you can view your official credit evaluation in STAR GPS.
- Automatic Admissions: If you were admitted via the Automatic Admission process and selected UH West O‘ahu as your campus in STAR GPS, you are not required to submit an Intent to Enroll form.
2. Check Your Registration Date
Registration occurs in waves based on your student status and earned credits. To find your exact start date:
- View the Academic Calendar: Visit the UH West O‘ahu Academic Calendar to see the general registration windows for the upcoming semester.
- Check STAR GPS: Log into your STAR GPS account. Your personal registration start date and time will be displayed above the “Register – Add/Drop Classes” button.
3. Clear Your Holds
Before you can register, all holds on your student account must be cleared. Common holds include:
- Health Clearances: Ensure your immunization records are processed.
- Financial Obligations: Clear any outstanding balances.
- Official Transcripts: Ensure final transcripts from previous institutions have been received.
Transfer students who have submitted their Intent to Enroll* may begin registering for courses shortly after current students register for the next semester. If you haven’t done so already, please submit your Intent to Enroll since your registration will depend on the completion of your transfer credit evaluation. This evaluation can take up to two weeks from receipt of the Intent to Enroll, so it’s important to turn it in as soon as possible. Transfer students will be able to view their credit evaluations in STAR GPS. Any holds on student accounts (e.g. health clearances, financial obligation, etc.) will also need to be cleared in order to register.
*Students admitted via the Automatic Admission process and who selected UH West O‘ahu as their campus on STAR GPS, do not need to submit an Intent to Enroll form.
