Transfer Student Orientation, Advising & Registration (SOAR)
Welcome to our campus, transfer students! Your success is important to us, and we want to make sure your transition is seamless. That’s why we have prepared SOAR Sessions. The sessions are designed to give you clarity and confidence by providing:
- Essential Information: Key information to know about navigating your first semester.
- Campus Resources: An introduction to the services and support available to you.
- Hands-On Registration Help: Dedicated time with advisors to assist you with course registration.
Registration for Transfer Students
Welcome to the UH West O‘ahu community! Once you have submitted your Intent to Enroll, you may begin the process of registering for courses. Registration for new transfer students typically begins shortly after the current student registration period.
Your registration timeline depends on your transfer credit evaluation. To avoid delays, please submit your Intent to Enroll as soon as possible.
- Processing Time: It can take up to two weeks for your evaluation to be completed once your Intent to Enroll is received.
- Viewing Credits: Once finalized, you can view your official credit evaluation in STAR GPS.
- Automatic Admissions: If you were admitted via the Automatic Admission process and selected UH West O‘ahu as your campus in STAR GPS, you are not required to submit an Intent to Enroll form.
Registration occurs in waves based on your student status and earned credits. To find your exact start date:
- View the Academic Calendar: Visit the UH West O‘ahu Academic Calendar to see the general registration windows for the upcoming semester.
- Check STAR GPS: Log into your STAR GPS account. Your personal registration start date and time will be displayed above the “Register – Add/Drop Classes” button.
Before you can register, all holds on your student account must be cleared. Common holds include:
- Health Clearances: Ensure your immunization records are processed.
- Financial Obligations: Clear any outstanding balances.
- Official Transcripts: Ensure final transcripts from previous institutions have been received.
UH West Oʻahu is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy campus environment. All new students are required to complete the Mandatory Title IX Training video and quiz. Requirement: You must watch the training video and complete the quiz to demonstrate your understanding.
STAR and STAR GPS is the tool you will use to help you understand your program requirements and help you graduate on time. Please watch the video tutorial to help you learn how to navigate the tool and learn some new tips and tricks!

*Once registered, students will receive a Google Calendar invite to their UH email address within 1-2 business days. Zoom meeting links will be provided 1-3 days prior to the scheduled online orientation date to their UH email address.

To participate in advising, new students must also complete the following:
- Submit your Intent to Enroll form.
- Submit your Health Clearances.
- Set-up your MyUH account to register.
