Since its inception in 1976, the University of Hawaiʻi – West Oʻahu has been committed to delivering accessible, affordable higher education to residents on the Leeward Coast through dynamic, flexible, and responsive methods.
UH West Oʻahu moved to its current campus in 2012 and continues to construct new facilities to meet the needs of its growing enrollment. The university strives to be a good community partner by meeting the educational requirements of its community by providing educational programs responsive to the local job market.
UH West Oʻahu offers unique programs such as creative media, cybersecurity, health sciences, hospitality and tourism, and sustainable community food systems – developed to address workforce needs and leverage today’s technologies to train the next generation of community leaders.

Accreditation
The University of Hawai‘i–West O‘ahu is accredited by WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). The University was granted initial accreditation in February 1981 by what was then known as WASC, and has been reaccredited in all subsequent reviews, including most recently in July 2022. The WSCUC accreditation process aids institutions in developing and sustaining effective educational programs and assures the educational community, the general public, and other organizations that an accredited institution has met high standards of quality and effectiveness.

In 2017, UH West O’ahu was ranked as the Best Small College in Hawaiʻi by Niche.com, which also identified it as the Best Online College in the state. BestValueSchools.com ranked UH West Oʻahu as having the best online offerings of any college in Hawaiʻi. U.S. News and World Report ranked UH West Oʻahu as a top-25 Best Regional College (West).
