Aloha Continuing Students of UH West Oahu…..

We know that your first two weeks back from spring break has been one of adjustment as classes migrated to the online environment. We trust that you have been making the adjustment with minimal challenge. We in the Office of Student Affairs want to ensure your continued success for completing this Spring 2020 term. We commit to providing you the necessary student services.

As we take the steps needed to continue our service to you, we are simultaneously endeavoring to protect your health and safety along with that of our employees based on the guidance of health experts. Effective immediately, you can anticipate modifications to student services in the ways described below:

General

  • Offices in Student Services located in C Building, on both the first and second floors makai wings as well as in B Building, second floor are closed to in-person, face to face services. We will be operating virtually, by phone, or email. Refer to the UHWO homepage for hours of operation as well as contact information provided below.

  • If you need a computer and internet connection to engage in online instruction and with our student services, you may go to A-227 which is open Mondays to Thursdays, 10am to 3pm except for holidays. See website below for more information. You may use the CHAT BOX feature located on the IT homepage to ask questions about hardware and software concerns.

Commencement (Graduation)

  • Traditional in-person ceremonies have been cancelled. The Commencement Planning Committee is working on an alternative way of acknowledging and celebrating the academic accomplishments of our graduating class of Spring 2020.   • ++ If you are scheduled to complete all of your degree requirements and plan on graduating by the end of this Spring 2020, you are still required to complete the Application for Graduation at url below:

  • Offices on the second floor of the Library will be physically closed for service. Contact the virtual front desk via Zoom at bit.ly/noeaucenter to speak with a live person M-F 8:30 am to 3:00 pm or email us after hours at uhwowc@hawaii.edu.
  • Tutoring services are available online. For feedback on writing, email feedback is still available through our Online Submission Form. For writing and all subjects, tutoring is available from 8:30am to 3:00 pm via Zoom.

Testing

  • A self-built remote proctor service will be available starting Monday, 04-06-20. Test
    Services staff will need to work with each instructor to establish remote test proctoring for
    students.

  • Naʻulu Center for Culture, Engagement, & Well-Being on the first floor, C Building will remain closed and unavailable for in-person services. Services will be available virtually and email.

  • Da Spot, the University’s vendor providing on-campus food service will be closed for the
    remainder of the semester.
  • Shuttle van service, Pueo Shuttle, has stopped operating for the remainder of the semester due to its inability to comply with social distance guidelines.

Verifications, Certifications, & Records Updates

  • Office of the Registrar on the first floor will not be open for in-person service. Services will
    be provided via email, phone, or online.
  • For certifications or verifications required for veterans benefits, enrollment, international
    student status, etc., you may find forms online at https://westoahu.hawaii.edu/forms/ or email the agency’s forms to uhwo.records@hawaii.edu.
  • To update your student record, change your major, etc. you may find forms online at
    https://westoahu.hawaii.edu/forms/.
