Hana Lawelawe: On Leadership

Pūpūkahi i Holomua (Unite to Move Forward)!

In this month’s leadership focused highlights, I would like to start by sharing our fall quarterly report, which highlights the good work of our students and faculty in the Heath Sciences. We also introduce our new Pre-Nursing Pathway program. Much mahalo to Dr. Rebecca Romine and Specialist Nicole Akana, and their entire team, for their inspired and diligent work to build this pathway with the UH Mānoa Nancy Atmospera-Walch School of Nursing.

Here’s another opportunity to celebrate the efforts of AVCAA Alan Rosenfeld and his accreditation team, and everyone involved, for the good work and many hours that resulted in our WSCUC 8-year accreditation. Recognition of our commendations as well as what challenges we are working to address is presented in this Star-Advertiser article, “UH West Oʻahu’s accreditation is reaffirmed for 8 more years.” (Subscription required).

One of the important committees on campus – that often flies under our radar – is our hardworking UHWO Campus Compliance Hui. Please see their most recent informational pamphlet focused on Drugs and Alcohol Abuse Prevention.

HULO! Director of Compliance, Bev Baligad’s BITAT/Homeland Security Grant is mentioned in this Civil Beat article:

Interesting Information

Post-Secondary Employment Outcomes (PSEO)
Post-Secondary Employment Outcomes (PSEO) are experimental tabulations developed by researchers at the U.S. Census Bureau. PSEO data provide earnings and employment outcomes for college and university graduates by degree level, degree major, and post-secondary institution. These statistics are generated by matching university transcript data with a national database of jobs, using state-of-the-art confidentiality protection mechanisms to protect the underlying data.

The PSEO are made possible through data sharing partnerships between universities, university systems, State Departments of Education, State Labor Market Information offices, and the U.S. Census Bureau. PSEO data are available for post-secondary institutions whose transcript data have been made available to the Census Bureau through a data-sharing agreement.
