The Communications Department strives to promote UH West O‘ahu through meaningful and purposeful exchanges of information to inform and engage the University community and increase the visibility of UH West O‘ahu for its many audiences.
We aim to increase awareness of campus programs and partnerships, consistent with our Brand Identity, with comprehensive and integrated messaging to foster growth and student success.
Ka Puna O Kaloʻi
Ka Puna O Kaloʻi, a UH West Oʻahu news site, showcases the scholarly and professional accomplishments of UH West Oʻahu students, faculty, alumni, and programs. It promotes fun, engaging, and entertaining news, profiles, and events for our campus community.
UH West Oʻahu‘s previous news site, E Kamakani Hou, is still accessible. Last updated on October 1, 2020.
Our Department's Functions
- Public Relations: Disseminate timely and accurate information and assistance to news organizations and community members. Includes the use of Social Media to engage with constituents.
- Community Engagement: Servicing the Leeward and West O‘ahu community through the promotion and development of partnerships that position the University as a valuable community partner.
- Campus Communications: Manage the University’s internal communications with faculty, staff, and students, providing a voice and method for distribution of information, including production of publicity materials, notices, and management of the University’s website, social media and other relevant communication channels.
Media Relations
Interested in doing a story on UH West O‘ahu? We are happy to help with information, photos, videos and interviews.
UH West Oʻahu requests that media notify the Communications Department if filming on campus. The Communications Department may be reached at (808) 689-2600 or uhwocomm@hawaii.edu.
In the event of an emergency, information will be posted and updated on the emergency information page as it becomes available. Media coming to campus will be directed to a designated area to be determined by campus security or Communications Department, depending on the severity of the emergency and the location of the incident.
