Pre-Pharmacy Track
The University of Hawaiʻi–West Oʻahu Bachelor of Applied Science, Health Professions, (BAS-HP) concentration with a Pre-Pharmacy Track was designed to prepare students who are interested in becoming pharmacy practitioners and leaders to improve healthcare in their communities while ensuring quality patient care. Pre-Pharmacy students will enroll in rigorous science courses that provide a strong science foundation and receive a broad exposure to healthcare and biomedical sciences, communication, ethics, and mathematics that are required for a successful career in pharmacy. The program fosters a holistic approach through incorporating Native Hawaiian values and principles, as well as place-based and aina-based learning.
About the Pre-Pharmacy Track
Through a unique collaboration between UH West O‘ahu and the Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy at UH Hilo, students enrolled in the BAS-HP concentration with a Pre-Pharmacy track at UH West O‘ahu can apply for the UH Hilo Pre-Pharmacy Preferred Admissions (PPA) Pathway. UH Hilo reviews PPA applications and, once accepted, students can complete PPA pathway prerequisite courses while enrolled in the UH West O‘ahu BAS-HP concentration with a Pre-Pharmacy Track. Enrollment in the UH Hilo PPA pathway allows students that maintain specific GPA requirements to be eligible for preferred acceptance into the PharmD program offered through the Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy at UH Hilo after successful completion of, or within the final year of completing, the UH West O‘ahu Pre-Pharmacy Bachelor of Applied Science, Health Professions, (BAS-HP) concentration with a Pre-Pharmacy Track degree program.
Through this specialized partnership, both campuses will provide students with support services and opportunities needed to prepare for admission into the Pharmacy program. Students interested in this pathway are encouraged to meet with an adviser from the UH West O‘ahu campus.

Dual Advising: UH West Oʻahu is responsible for the UH West Oʻahu BAS HP Pre-Pharmacy program requirements and UHH is responsible for the pre-requisite courses for the Pharm D program.
Completion of all pre-requisite courses and 3.2 GPA each semester
Students must maintain their status as a West Oahu student and should maintain a 3.0 GPA each semester in which they are enrolled in the PPA Pathway.
UH West Oahu students enrolled in the UH West Oʻahu BAS-HP pre-pharmacy track must maintain a 3.0 to continue participation in the PPA Pathway. Those students that fall below the 3.0 GPA requirement in a semester will get a warning letter and then if they fail to obtain the GPA during the second semester they are removed from the pathway. The student can then reapply after two semesters if they raise their GPA.
All DKICP pre-requisite courses need to be completed with a grade of a C or better. Once students apply to the UH Hilo DKICP program, UHH will review all transcripts as well as the GPA at the time of application.
UH Hilo adheres to the same repeat grade policy as UH West Oʻahu.
