How do I schedule an appointment with an advisor?
Students can log on through the STAR Balance: www.star.hawaii.edu/appointment with your UH username and password, click on your advisor to view your availability, and schedule an appointment. HERE are instructions on how to make an appointment.
I am getting a prerequisite error or co-requisite error. What do I do?
A prerequisite is a course that you must take prior to registering for the current course. If you did not take that course, you are unable to register for the current course. A co-requisite is a course that you must take at the same time with the course you are trying to register for.
I get a registration error that states “Repeat exceeds count: 0”. What do I do?
This error indicates that you have previously taken this course. If you need to retake this course, please contact your advisor to get a repeat override.
What happens to the waitlist after the first day of school?
The waitlist is no longer an option on the first day of instruction. If you would like to inquire about enrolling in the filled class, please contact the professor.
How many credits can I sign up for in a semester?
You can initially sign up for 19 credits. If you would like to sign up for more credits, please contact your advisor the week before school starts.
Why should I waitlist for courses?
Waitlisting for a course indicates to faculty that more sections are needed. While it is not a guarantee that a section will be added, it does communicate the need for a particular course to the division.
How can I check my class standing?
Class standing is credits that you have earned or completed therefore your registration date is based on the credits you have already earned. It does not take into account the credits that you are currently taking or in progress. How do I change my major?
Fill out the Add or Change of Major/Concentration form.
Can I take classes at another UH Campus?
The short answer is yes. You can take classes at any of the community colleges without needing to apply to their campus and through UH Manoa’s Outreach College (application may be required).
