COVID-19 Update: Transition to Online Learning

Date/Time sent: 03/12/2020 8:19 am

Good morning UH West O’ahu ‘ohana,

You may have read UH President David Lassner’s email message early this morning regarding the transition to online classes following Spring Break, effective March 23. If you haven’t, please do so now. UH West O’ahu has been preparing for this transition to online learning. While this decision seems significant, our campus is appropriately equipped for this situation.

Students: your faculty will be contacting you – or may already be in touch – regarding how this may impact your coursework. Many of you may be taking one or more courses online or via a hybrid delivery method. For those who have yet to experience online learning, we encourage you to embrace one of UH West O’ahu’s strengths. We are working on solutions for our students for whom online course delivery is a new concept or who may need special accommodations. If you need access to computers, internet capabilities, or support services to continue your learning journey, please email Kelly Fujino at kafujino@hawaii.edu.

The UH West O’ahu Executive Team has been planning for this eventuality and all hands are on deck to address and implement the plan in our transition to online learning. More information is forthcoming from both this campus and the UH System. Please continue to check your hawaii.edu email for updates and guidance. The UH System COVID-19 website (www.hawaii.edu/emergency/important-health-information-novel-coronavirus/) also has helpful guidance.
