Welina mai kākou!

Hoʻokāhi ka ilau like ana (Wield the paddles together)

Today we begin our summer session! Mahalo nui to all the instructors and students who are back on campus adding to a renewed “buzz” in the air! Bringing back the vitality of our campus is a priority for us and we are working hard to ensure a safe and dynamic on-campus/in-person learning environment. As we ease into summer, please remember to check your UH email weekly for updates and announcements.

If you have not yet had an opportunity, please review the WSCUC Accreditation Team Final Report and UH West Oʻahu’s Response. Remember that WSCUC will meet in late June to review the report and response and determine our final status. Our Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO), AVCAA Dr. Alan Rosenfeld, and I will be available at that meeting to respond to any questions that the committee might have. We should have the decision soon after. Again, we will keep you posted, so please check your email.

Working to keep our campus safe!

COVID 19 reminder graphic

Keep in mind, kūkūlu kaiaʻulu! Please strengthen our community with your passions, respect for one another, and patience! Please respect an individual’s personal choice to wear a face mask outdoors and indoors where face masks are no longer required.

The University of Hawaiʻi System will continue indoor masking requirements through the summer – similar to Hawaiʻi DOE.

UH West Oʻahu COVID-19 Guidelines require all employees and students to wear visible identification. If you require a lanyard, check with your Vice Chancellor’s office. If you need to update your UH West Oʻahu ID please see Student Services.

It is the responsibility of each and every one of us to protect ourselves from exposure by using well-fitted masks, to be vaccinated and appropriately boosted, to take breaks and eat meals safely, and to stay home if we are displaying new respiratory symptoms.

Please stay informed!

Mahalo nūnui for taking the time to review this week’s bulletin.
E mālama pono!
Maenette Benham, Chancellor
