Update COVID-19

There have been questions regarding COVID vaccinations. Please know that UH strongly recommends vaccinations, which will increase health and safety as we return to campus. We are not “mandating” vaccinations for faculty, staff, and students. You can listen to President Lassner’s report to the Board of Regents. He presents an overview of what U.S. colleges and universities are doing and contemplating.

Update UH System Budget & Finance and Impact of Federal Stimulus Funding

University of Hawaiʻi Vice President for Budget and Finance, Kalbert Young, provides updates on his website, which is presented to the Board of Regents and the State Legislature. Here is his recent update and analysis that includes the current status of the university’s operating and capital improvement budgets, possible reductions to both, and the possible impact of federal stimulus money: http://go.hawaii.edu/9uJ

This week our UHWO Federal Funding Advisory Council and Campus Executives will review our campus HEERF I/CARES and HEERF II/CRRSSA funding budget. This will be posted as soon as it has been reviewed and verified. A website with this information is under development. In addition, programs and work groups are developing proposals for HEERF II/CRRSSA funding. Although we have limited funds and these funds are one-time only funds, we are looking forward to supporting good ideas that can be sustained and have productive impact. Please meet with your Vice Chancellor to learn about this process.

Important Reminder – We need your feedback

As a reminder, the entire campus community is invited to attend the virtual Town Hall event this Friday, April 23, from 11:00 to noon, accessible via this Zoom link . The event will focus on UH West O‘ahu’s accreditation cycle, focusing on the draft Institutional Report for Reaffirmation (IRR) that was released to the campus on April 1. The IRR team seeks your input on the draft report, which you can provide via this anonymous survey. All of the relevant materials, including a brief IRR “primer,” are also posted on the campus surveys page. The IRR team requests feedback by April 30, either through the anonymous survey or, if you prefer, by a direct email to uhwoirr@hawaii.edu. At Friday’s virtual Town Hall session, the IRR team will address any questions that students, staff, or faculty might have about the draft report or UH West O‘ahu’s application for renewed accreditation.
