First-Year Student Orientation, Advising and Registration (SOAR)
UH West Oʻahu‘s Student Orientation, Advising and Registration (SOAR) is designed to help you make a successful transition to college. You’ll be able to connect with your future classmates, discover the services available to help you succeed, and explore opportunities to get involved in as a Pueo.

Pre-Registration Online Modules
New students are required to complete Pre-Registration Modules consisting of a series of informational videos which are designed to help students understand and navigate the STAR GPS Registration system, Graduation and Program Requirements, as well as advising tips on selecting classes. The final module will require students to sign up for a Registration Session and Lā Pūnua Orientation. Successful completion of all the modules will allow students to receive a 6-digit PIN number to register for classes.

- Visit the First Year Student Orientation page and complete all four ‘Ike modules and the survey.
- Sign-up for a Registration Session (Required)
- Register for Orientation (Mandatory)
- Receive access to the PIN screen after completing steps 1 through 3. PIN will be used to input in STAR within 24 hours to register for classes before August. Note the PIN down.
- Head to STAR GPS to register for your first semester. Registration for incoming first-year students opens on Monday, April 14, 2025 and you will be assisted with registration for classes at the Registration Session you sign up for.
Registration Session Sign-ups
First-year students are required to sign-up for a Registration Session. These sessions will provide students with the opportunity to meet their College Success Advisor and review and secure their Fall 2025 registration for classes. The sessions are offered on the days and times below and students will need to sign up for one of the hour blocks during the advertised week.

Lā Pūnua Orientation Day
The mandatory Lā Pūnua Orientation Day supports incoming students’ transition into college by exposing you to UH West O‘ahu’s resources, and traditions while connecting you to current and future student leaders in a social environment.
This Orientation is a fun way to meet new friends and network, learn about getting involved at UH West Oʻahu, and get connected to the campus before classes even begin! Get ahead and begin your college experience soaring through! Registration for Lā Pūnua Orientation is required as part of the Pre-Registration Orientation Modules.
At Lā Pūnua you’ll:
- Build relationships with other incoming freshman as well as current and transfer students
- Engage in fun breakout sessions with your future professors and student leaders
- Discover campus resources and ways to get involved at UH West Oʻahu
