Learning Outcome Alignments
Aloha Teachers! Like the original Teacher Resource Guide featured by Chamber Music Hawaiʻi, many of the learning opportunities in this expanded Guide align with current learning outcomes including National Core Arts Standards and Hawaiʻi State Department of Education learning standards, i.e., HĀ: BREATH learning outcomes and General Learner Outcomes (GLOs).
HĀ: BREATH — Learning Outcomes
HĀ: BREATH is the Hawaiʻi State Department of Education’s overarching, Hawaiian-values-grounded outcomes framework, rooted in Belonging, Responsibility, Excellence, Aloha, Total Well-being, and Hawaiʻi, and meant to be present in every classroom regardless of subject.

General Learner Outcomes (GLOs)
General Learner Outcomes (GLOs) are the Hawaiʻi DOE’s overarching, essential goals for all students across all grade levels (K-12), focusing on behaviors and skills that go beyond academic achievement to foster well-rounded, lifelong learners.
Learning opportunities in this expanded Guide align with all six GLOs — Self-Directed Learner, Community Contributor, Complex Thinker, Quality Producer, Effective Communicator, and Effective and Ethical User of Technology. National Core Arts Standards
National Core Arts Standards Anchor Standards are 11 overarching statements defining what students should know and do in Pre-K through high school arts education. They are organized around four artistic processes:
- CREATING: Conceiving and developing new artistic ideas and work.
- PERFORMING: (dance, music, theatre): Realizing artistic ideas and artistic work through interpretation and presentation; PRESENTING: (visual arts): Interpreting and sharing artistic work; or PRODUCING (media arts): Realizing and presenting artistic ideas and work.
- RESPONDING: Understanding and evaluating how the arts convey meaning.
- CONNECTING: Relating artistic ideas and work with personal meaning and external context.
