Unit Signatures
Although the drive to “have our own identity” by using an individualized logo is pervasive, proliferation of such marks dilutes the university’s brand integrity and creates confusion on the part of the public. To satisfy the needs of our campus community for an individual identity within the overall campus brand, the university developed a unit signature. It combines the UH West Oʻahu signature with the name of a school, department, program or project in a way that is consistent with our brand. Variations are not permitted, but the design has a great deal of flexibility built in.
Although not advisable, entities that still feel strongly about developing an alternate logo may request one through their respective Vice Chancellor. These requests are granted under extremely special circumstances that require requests made in writing and transmitted via the respective chancellor or vice president to the associate vice president for external affairs and university relations.
