The UH West Oʻahu Library will be hosting Misinformation Week from March 20-24, 2023. The weeklong event will aim to bring awareness about this important topic to our campus and community, to teach local high school students how to be responsible users of information, and to empower local educators and librarians to provide media literacy instruction that addresses current issues regarding information disorder in online environments. The planned activities will allow participants to learn about media ethics, the motivations of those who spread false information, the biases we each hold, and our responsibilities when sharing information with others online. To accomplish that, Misinformation Week will include a variety of in-person and online presentations and activities related to misinformation and the importance of media literacy.
