Name of service: James & Abigail Campbell Library

Where we are: Located in the center of campus. (The building with the 100-foot tower featuring a stained glass mural by artist Carol Bennett.)

Who we are:

  • Michiko Joseph, Interim Library Director

  • Alphie Garcia, Information Resource and Collection Management Librarian

  • Carina Chernisky, Public Services Librarian

  • Chelby Onaga, Circulation Supervisor

  • Erin Tagomori, Access Services Manager

  • Kawena Komeiji, Hawaiian Pacific Resources Librarian

  • Soledad Lencinas, Public Services Librarian

What services we provide: Our primary goals are to provide seamless access to the library resources and to empower students to make confident decisions regarding their information needs. You can expect a friendly and welcoming environment whether you’re in the building or interacting with us virtually. Our librarians are available via chat during normal business hours for all your reference questions. Many students find our guides helpful, they are course and subject specific. You have access to over 230,000 items (print books, media, and ebooks), 94 Research Databases, and a growing Hawaii-Pacific Collection (special focus on the Waiʻanae and ʻEwa mokus). If there is something that we don’t have you may be able to request it via ILL. In addition, you can reserve a computer space (see current available software), print/scan/copy, access our collection of course reserves, register for workshops, learn about Scholarly Communication, and visit our UHWO DSpace repository.

This year is definitely unique due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of our processes have been temporarily altered during this time, please see our Library COVID-19 Updates and Resources page for up-to-date information on our daily operations.

What’s special about us: Student quotes from our most recent library survey: “I love how spacious it is and how well the environment is controlled and quiet. I love that there are always people there willing to help me find the book I am searching for,” “The library is a very pleasant atmosphere for study and work. Great mix of social and quiet spaces. Excellent natural light sources.”

What’s special about you: We are proud of the diversity of the UH West Oʻahu student body and try to make our space welcoming to all students, whether you‘re a recent high school grad or in the midst of a career change.
