Registered Independent Student Organizations (RISOs)

Registered Independent Student Organizations (RISOs) are independent and self-governed student organizations formed with common interests and activities. These organizations, varying from academic, cultural, professional, political, recreational, religious, and service groups, serve the campus and community by providing leadership development opportunities for students. In addition, RISOs foster community spirit, civic engagement and social and cultural interaction among all UH West Oʻahu students, faculty and staff members.

Anthropology Club

The Anthropology Club is an organization of students and faculty whose purpose is to promote cultural awareness and understanding, encourage professionalism, provide opportunities for professional exploration, promote and encourage the study of anthropology, and educate the community on the contribution of anthropology.

Art of Sound

We’re an organization of UH West Oʻahu students wanting to provide a platform for creatives to express their passion for music and connect them with others! If you’re interested in sharing your music with others or wanting to get inspired working with other UH West Oʻahu students, then the Art of Sound club is for you!

The purpose of the Art of Sound organization is to provide a platform for individuals to express themselves through music and use their passion for music to connect with others. Circle K International (CKI)

Circle K International (CKI) is the world’s largest student-led collegiate service organization in the world. CKI runs by three tenants known as service, leadership, and fellowship. With more than 13,600 members in 14 countries, CKI is making a positive impact on the world every day.

Circle K International (CKI) runs by three tenants known as service, leadership, and fellowship. Service is the opportunity we give our members to help volunteer for other non-profit organizations. Leadership is where we can help them develop their leadership skills to help them gain more confidence in themselves and other people for their careers. Every Nation Campus - Pearlside

The purpose of Every Nation Campus Pearlside is to be a diverse group of Christian students, staff, and associate members who are committed to serve UH West Oʻahu by helping students establish Christ-centered, Spirit-empowered, socially responsible churches and campus ministries in every nation.

Film Club

The Film Club is looking to connect with like-minded UH West Oʻahu students who are interested in all things film! The goals The Film Club wants to accomplish is as follows:

  1. To bring together students and the community through their love of film.
  2. To create events for the school and community to appreciate the art of film.
  3. To have students and people of the community to work together to create projects and develop their skills in the art of film.
  4. To come together to watch films and analyze in terms of mise-en-scène, cinematography, sound, and editing to gain a better understanding of film.
  5. To connect with other clubs in the creation of different projects to gain a better community within the school.
  6. To create a space for all the community to communicate their ideas through the process of film making.

Our name, Hoʻokāpili, means to build, mend, join, unite, as in to set together as precious stones (pōhaku). Previously known as Westside InterVarsity, Hoʻokāpili is a club that hopes to be a place for people to grow as an ʻohana, build each other up, and learn more about Jesus together.

HOSA (Future Health Professionals)

HOSA’s national two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA’s goal is to encourage all health science instructors and students to join and be actively involved in the HSE-HOSA Partnership. HOSA provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation, and recognition exclusively for collegiate students enrolled in health science education and biomedical science programs or have interests in pursuing careers in health professions. The UHWO Chapter of HOSA intends to follow and be aligned with the national organization’s goals and mission.

Law Society Club

The Law Society club is looking to connect students who are interested in learning law practices and planning on attending law school after graduating from UH West Oʻahu. The purpose of the Law Society is to introduce prospective law students to a network of peers, alumni, and advisors within the legal field. The Law Society, in coordination with the William S. Richardson Law School, will organize a variety of events including guest speakers and field trips to the law school campus where prospective students can talk with faculty, current law students, and advisors.

LGBTQ+ Club

Nā Pale O Kualakaʻi

Nā Pale O Kualakaʻi Club is committed to creating a culture of civic engagement, generating positive social change and an interest in life-long dedication to the love of the land with hands-on application of indigenous based practices. Students will gain land-based and global communities. Through structured critical reflective activities, students are encouraged to analyze their service experience as it applies to their academic, personal, and career goals. National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)

The National Alliance on Mental Illness, also known as NAMI, is an association dedicated to improving the mental health of individuals and raise awareness of mental illness. NAMI on Campus is a club that wants to provide a safe space on campus for our peers that are dealing with mental health challenges. OniUs Club

The purpose of the OniUs Club is to increase student success and engagement within UH West Oʻahu by implementing Na Hopena Aʻo (HA) framework. Historically, ʻOnipaʻa helped to transition students from the Waiʻanae coast to the college environment by introducing the students to the resources here on campus. OniUs will continue to provide that safe haven for all students. (Currently inactive)

Pilipino Education Rooted in Language Association of Students (PERLAS)

We’re a collective of UH West O’ahu students providing a growing population of women with professional resources to help meet their goals. Pink Crush 808 is a club that wants to provide resources both professional and leisure to our female population on campus. Red Team at UH West Oʻahu is a student club that supports cybersecurity education as part of the University of Hawaii at West Oahu designation as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CDE) by the National Security Agency (NSA) and U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Students research and explore modern cyber issues, prepare and participate in cyber competitions, and prepare to serve as Cyber Red Teams in support of cyber training exercises and events.

Sports Fanatics

The Student National Education Association at UH West Oʻahu is a student organization and is a chapter of the National Education Association (NEA), as well as the Hawai’i State Teacher Association (HSTA). The SNEA UHWO consists of future teachers studying education at UHWO. Our education club aims to provide many professional development opportunities including involvement in local state and national student leadership conferences to students showing interest in the field of education. We seek to involve children and families from neighboring areas in education-related activities as well as plan social gatherings, volunteering opportunities, and much more!

The Student National Education Association (SNEA) is a university chapter affiliate of the National Education Association (NEA) and Hawaii State Teachers Association.

Student Veterans Organization

The purpose of the organization is to create comradery among Veteran students, and create a network of support and resources, as well as create a level of belonging for Veterans who want to socialize with others with similar pathways. The group is being founded due to student demand and a lack of Veteran resources on campus in the past.

Tea Ceremony Club

The purpose of the Tea Ceremony Club is to introduce students to the diverse uses and distinct properties of the Japanese tea ceremony, mainly four aspects – history, visual, culture, aesthetics, and philosophy. The club enhances students’ knowledge of the historical development, spiritual, and philosophical discipline behind the tea ceremony, as well as aesthetic contemplation of tea utensils, tea rooms, calligraphy, kimono, and flower arrangement as a whole. Students are encouraged to analyze various types of visual representations of the Japanese tea culture and their relation to contexts of time and place to achieve a peaceful state of mind.

The purpose of the Voter Registration club is essentially providing the UH West Oahu population with information and background into the voting process. We want to help our students learn the importance of voting and additionally register them to vote.
