Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan

An interlibrary loan (ILL) is the borrowing of a book from outside the UH system, or getting a copy of an article or book chapter from another library. These requests are mediated by the interlibrary loan librarian and can be submitted directly through the forms below:

Alternately, ILL requests can also be made in Onesearch as you’re searching for materials. To place an ILL request that way:

  1. Access Onesearch.
  2. Search for the item you want. Once you are at the correct item record…
  3. Go to the “How to get it” section and click on “Sign in.” Enter your UH username and password if you are prompted to do so.
  4. When the page reloads, go back to the “How to get it” section and click on “Request PDF scan from item not owned by UHWO.”
  5. A pre-filled request form should open in a new tab.
  6. Add your name, your UH email address and your UH ID number in the corresponding required fields at the end of the form (these will have a red asterisk).
  7. Click “Submit” to place your request.

Note: You can find the OneSearch record of an item either by searching for it directly in OneSearch or by clicking on the “Check UHWO for full text” link of an item record in one of the library databases.

Once you have submitted the form, you will receive a response/confirmation of the request. Please allow up to 7 business days to receive the requested article or book chapter, and additional time for other materials.

Please email us your intrasystem or interlibrary loan related questions to uhwoill@hawaii.edu.
