Distance Education — Getting Started
Whether your goal is to quickly finish a degree or engage in a new academic pursuit, UH West Oʻahu offers online coursework in many high-demand fields. If you have completed your lower-division coursework (freshman and sophomore classes), you may take your upper-division courses (in the degree programs linked below) entirely online. How do I get started as a first-year student?
New to college? First-year students are eligible to enroll only in in-person programs. Once you have completed two years of coursework, you may choose a distance education program. Plan ahead by reviewing the DE programs linked above.
How do I get started as a transfer student?
As a transfer student, start by submitting your previous college transcripts to Admissions. To be eligible as a Distance Education (DE) student requires sixty (60) transferable college-level credits with a minimum 2.0 GPA.

What is a certificate program?
A certificate program is a designated set of courses that complements a degree program by bundling necessary skills and knowledge in a focused area of study. Earning a certificate can be a great way to update your understanding of a changing professional field. Each UH West Oahu undergraduate certificate is outlined in a program sheet that details the course requirements, which generally amount to 15 credits.
Amazon Career Choice
Amazon Career Choice covers tuition, fees, and books for qualified Amazon employees pursuing associate and bachelor’s degrees and professional certificates. Amazon Career Choice provides flexible scheduling so employees can blend work and school successfully. To be eligible for the program, employees must have at least two years of service and meet certain performance criteria.
