UHWO Psychology students Quinn Hashimoto and Stephanie Otto, and UHWO alum Rodgie Bucsit joined senior clinicians from the King Kalākaua Center for Humanistic Psychotherapy in presenting a continuing education workshop to mental health professionals at the 2014 Hawaiʻi Psychological Association (HPA) Conference held on Oct. 24 and 25, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki. The students presented their research on how therapy may be improved for Filipino American, Native Hawaiian and Japanese American clients seeking couples or marital counseling. All three students are members of the UHWO Psychotherapy Process and Treatment Outcome research lab. The purpose of the lab is to examine the impact of Hawaiʻi’s diverse, multicultural heritage on clinical phenomena. In addition to providing this workshop for mental health professionals, the lab has also provided consultation services to the Waiʻanae Coast Comprehensive Health Center and Farmer’s Insurance Hawaiʻi.
