Women's History Month

March, Women's History Month, Moving Forward Together

Women’s History Month, established by Congress in 1987, is set aside to honor women’s contributions to American history. For 2025, the National Women’s History Alliance (NWHA) promotes the theme “Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations.” NWHA has also published a Women’s History Toolkit for educators. The toolkit offers guidance in bringing forward women’s often unrecognized societal and academic advancements.

Recent TED-Ed videos on the groundbreaking work of women include The Genius of Madame Curie, How one scientist took on the chemical industry (Rachel Carson, environmentalist), How could so many people support Hitler? (Hannah Arendt, philosopher), and The historic women’s suffrage march on Washington.
