Develop learning content with instructional design models

Whether your online course needs a light refresh or a full reboot, instructional design models can help guide your new approach. You may want to review common ID models like Backward Design (Wiggins & McTighe) and Transactional Distance (Michael Moore) before you decide on how to revise your course. The theory of Transactional Distance states that as the level of interaction between teacher and learner decreases, learner autonomy must increase. Moore notes that this separation between instructor and learner requires the use of special teaching strategies that may involve more than one learning theory.

Brush up on durable learning theories to determine how the findings of learning experts can be applied to your course design to support the learning efforts of students.
