In April, ODEL invited Phill Dawson, co-director of the Centre for Research in Assessment and Digital Learning (CRADLE) at Deakin University, to discuss his work via Zoom webinars. Dawson’s research focuses on assessment and feedback design. The first session, Designing Assessment for an Age of AI, explored the need for reforms to ensure assessment integrity in light of recent developments in AI capabilities. The second session, Closing the Feedback Loop, examined methods to improve students’ capacity to seek feedback, make use of it, and manage their emotions through the process. The webinars, funded by the Kelekaʻa Hoʻonaʻauao grant, offer helpful advice on structuring feedback and designing assessments to support positive educational outcomes.
