UH Support Services (UH Online, UHOIC)
UH Online is guiding the transition to Lamakū. The Discover Lamakū website is an information hub for faculty and students. Youʻll find Lamakū tips, links to Kuali request forms, and other timely updates.
The UH Online Innovation Center (UHOIC) offers an ongoing series of Discovery sessions to demonstrate how to use Lamakū as a flexible framework for your course. You can attend upcoming sessions or view the Spring 2025 recordings.
General, Updates
Lamakū Support Sessions are informal Zoom meetings to support the effective use of Lamakū tools and structural features. UH faculty and staff from all campuses are welcome. Instructional designers share helpful tips and strategies.

Planning & Process
Find Kuali forms to request accounts, sandboxes, course migration, cross-listing, and LTI integration.
Lamakū Instructor Essentials is a self-paced training course found in Lamakū under My Courses. The module sequence is designed to guide users in step-by-step course building. Pin the course for quick reference as you get started in Lamakū!
The Modules tool in Laulima is a legacy tool not included in Laulima to Lamakū content migration. These instructions provide a solution for importing modules into Lamakū: Exporting Laulima Modules to Lamakū.
These instructions will guide you in copying content from one Lamakū site (sandbox, reference site) to another: Lamakū Tutorial – Copying Content in Lamakū.
Instructors should contact the campus bookstore, which will generate a list shared with ITS. ITS will install the appropriate tool in your courses and alert the bookstore to pair the courses with the third-party content. Communicate your IDAP plans to the bookstore before December 4 (per the IDAP timeline).

Pro Tools & Tips
Creator+ is a premium feature for building engaging course content in Lamakū. The Creator+ tool inserts accordions, flip cards, and other interactive elements into learning content. For details, see Create Content with Creator+.
The H5P + Lamakū Instructor User Guide provides recommendations on inserting H5P activities in Lamakū now that the H5P Interactives tool is available across the UH system for Lamakū instructor users.
The H5P Interactives Library includes a knowledge base repository by subject area, showcasing a variety of engaging activities shared by UH faculty and staff.
Lamakū has an AI-powered tool, Lumi, to help create activities and quiz questions that align with course materials. Lumi only draws from content uploaded to the LMS and not from a large language model. Create Content with Lumi
Impersonate a Demo Student explains how to experience your course and test some activities (assignments, quizzes, and discussions) from a student’s perspective within Lamakū. Please remember to unenroll the demo student account when you are done testing in your course site.
Intelligent Agents can be used to automatically monitor student activity within a course and send emails based on criteria such as login frequency, task completion, or grade levels.
Instructors can now select from nine course homepage layouts. Find the options by clicking the more menu button (three dots) at the bottom right of a course homepage. Each layout features different widgets to help students productively navigate the course based on use cases.
