University Chorus
Sing beautiful choral music from all over the world. Bring a friend and de-stress with your University Chorus ʻohana. No experience necessary!
The University Chorus (MUS 114), under the direction of Jon Magnussen in Fall 2023, is open to UH West Oʻahu students, faculty, staff, and community musicians including Early College high school students. The ensemble performs choral literature from the Renaissance to the present, including Hawaiian mele, and members improve vocal technique, musicianship, and listening and ensemble skills. The ability to read music is not required.
The University Chorus participates in the annual spring collegiate choral festival, E Hīmeni Kākou. Here is UH West Oʻahu’s first mass performance in 2013 with 300+ collegiate voices from Oʻahu performing Rheinbergerʻs “Abendlied”.
