E Ola Pono Week scheduled with numerous events, activities

There will be a kalo workshop during E Ola Pono Week

Kalo, tea, music, t-shirt printing, a movie and a presentation on Makahiki highlight the Fall 2018 Semester’s E Ola Pono Week, five days of culture, health and wellness on the UH West Oʻahu campus.

This week’s events include:

Monday, Oct. 15, 2018

  • 7:30-9:30 a.m.:  What’s Da Tea? Stop by for some tea, coffee and pastries. Campus Center Plaza.
  • 11-noon: Kuʻi Kalo Workshop.  Learn how to pound kalo (taro). Campus Center Plaza.
  • Noon-1 p.m.: Kalo Poke Workshop. Prepare kalo (taro) in a poke-like manner with toppings of your choice. Campus Center Plaza.

Tuesday, Oct. 16

  • 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.:  West ‘N Welaxation. Come to the No’eau Center’s mid-semester relaxer for students. No’eau Center
  • 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.: Screen Printing & Presentation with Andre Perez. Bring your own shirt to screen on. Campus Center Plaza.
  • 11 a.m. – noon: Kipa Aloha: Campus Jam Session. Campus Center Plaza.
  • 11:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.: All Level Yoga with Emily Yamamoto. Hale Kuahuokalā, Student Organic Garden.

Wednesday, Oct. 17

  • 10-11:30 a.m.: Makahiki Presentation by Andre Perez. Come learn about Makahiki. Nāulu Center
  • 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.: West ‘N Welaxation. Come to the No’eau Center’s mid-semester relaxer for students. No’eau Center
  • 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.: Culture, Health & Wellness Fair. Nāulu Center.
  • 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.: Pull-up & Hootie Hoo Intramural Challenge. Pueo Fitness Center.
  • 5 – 9 p.m. Kara-Sino Night. Free foot, karaoke & casino games. Sponsored by Pueo Leadership at the Nāulu Center.

Thursday, Oct. 18

  • 3 – 5 p.m.: Intramural Free Play. Great Lawn.
  • 4:45 – 5:45 p.m.: Zumba. Nāulu Center.
  • 6 – 8 p.m.: Movie Night.  The Student Activity Fee Board is hosting a showing of Moonlight. C225.

Friday, Oct. 19

  • 9 – 11 a.m.: Campus Beautification Project.  Come help beautify our campus through service work. Campus Center.
