UH West Oʻahu celebrated the dedication of the Takeyama Creative Media Production Lab in E139 on Friday, Dec. 18. The Roy and Hilda Takeyama Foundation recently made a $1 million commitment to support and advance the mission and priorities of the Academy for Creative Media that is housed at the UH West Oʻahu campus. Their gift will support Academy for Creative Media students with tuition, books, fees, travel, the purchase of computer hardware and software, student internships, and special student scholarships that may be established. It will also be used to outfit the anticipated Academy for Creative Media building with state-of-the-art equipment. In recognition of this gift, E139 was named the Takeyama Creative Media Production Lab.

University officials, students, faculty and staff gathered to honor Roy and Hilda Takeyama and their support of the University’s creative media program. The Takeyamas toured the campus along with First Lady Dawn Ige and received a certificate of appreciation from the Council of the City and County of Honolulu presented by Councilwoman Carol Fukunaga.
