UH West Oʻahu Associate Professor of Chemistry Dr. Joseph Bariyanga placed 18th overall in a field of more than 14,000 runners at the 2015 Great Aloha Run in February. His time? A stunning 48 minutes and 31 seconds for the 8.15 mile run. That’s 5 minutes and 58 seconds per mile! Bariyanga also placed first in his age group. This year, he’s training to run his first ever marathon so he’s added a 20 mile run every Sunday to his regular 40-50 mile per week training schedule.
