Future teachers: Learn about Summer Academy opportunity, April 24

Teacher candidates who participate in UH West Oʻahu’s Ho‘opūliko Kumu Hou Summer Program are eligible to receive up to nine free college credits that focus on introduction to teaching as a career, Hawaiian ways of Knowing in education, and student development.

To learn more, attend the HKH Sign-Up Zoom Party, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, April 24, for existing UH West Oʻahu students, new transfer students, and first year freshmen who are declared middle level or secondary education candidates. The Hoʻopūliko Kumu Hou Summer Program offerings are specifically chosen for those teacher candidates who transfer in with an associate degree or most of their general education requirements completed.

Students who attend the Zoom party will be guided step-by-step through the application process. There are three sessions available:

  • Session 1: 9 to 10 a.m.
  • Session 2: noon to 1 p.m.
  • Session 3: 4 to 5 p.m.
