Current and prospective students, as well as community members who need help in completing their FAFSA and University of Hawaiʻi Common Scholarship applications are invited to a UH West Oʻahu Financial Aid Office workshop this Thursday on the UHWO campus.
The event will provide one-on-one help as well as scholarship application tips. Free refreshments will be provided, as well as WiFi and iPads for use during the event by applicants with a photo ID. The event is open to students and community members and is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Feb. 8 in C208.
Students and others who apply for financial aid are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA. Completing and submitting the FAFSA®form is free, and gives access to the largest source of financial aid to help pay for college. Applicants may also be required to furnish to UH additional documents verifying their financial circumstance.
The workshop is being scheduled three weeks before the crucial March 1 priority deadline for FAFSA applications (and the deadline for UH System Common Scholarship Applications). It is recommended that applicants seeking financial assistance for the fall semester apply by March 1 and for the spring semester by Oct. 1. Applications received after the priority deadlines receive financial aid on a first-come, first-serve basis and are subject to availability of funding.
