Safe Zone Training is Nov. 29
The University of Hawaiʻi-West Oʻahu is offering training to raise awareness on LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer/Questioning) issues for students, faculty, and staff at 1 p.m., Wednesday Nov. 29 in B217.
The training is designed to increase the training participant’s awareness of issues on campus and sharpen the skills of allies to help end harassment. Employees will receive a certificate of completion as well as a poster to display at their work area to indicate that they are part of a professional network of student support.
Safe Zone Training is conducted at other UH System campuses and at other universities nationally to improve the climate on campuses for LGBTQ+ students. The training (sometimes referred to as Safe Space) are designed to help communities create inclusive, safe spaces and impart information on ways to act as an ally for LGBTQ+ students.
