UH West Oʻahu Academy for Creative Media (ACM) alum, Mellissa Lochman, was featured on two morning news shows on July 22, to promote ACMʻs participation in the Intergenerational Family Resource Fair. Mellissa was featured on KHON2 Wake Up 2Day and KGMB’s Sunrise to discuss ACM’s Design in Public Spaces class, which rethinks and redesigns everyday items to be more user-friendly. Student projects include readable street signs, instructional signage at the Department Motor Vehicles that is easy to read/understand, and forms and applications with templates and instructions that are easy to navigate.

Led by Creative Media Associate Director, Sharla Hanaoka, UHWO’s ACM students assisted kupuna with using smartphones at the Intergenerational Family Resource Fair on July 24 at the Hawaiʻi Convention Center. The students helped seniors with using smartphones to take video, access email, send text messages, download and use apps. They also fielded questions regarding smartphone, tablet, laptop, and computer maintenance.
