Building a Caring Majority with Ai-jen Poo, April 12

Ai-jen Poo, who was named by TIME as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2012 and by Fortune.com as one of the World’s 50 Greatest Leaders in 2015, is speaking at UH West Oʻahu on Wednesday, April 12 in C-225 from 12:30 to 1:50 p.m., in “Building a Caring Majority.” The event is open to students, faculty, and staff.

Ai-jen Poo, the Director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance and co-director of Caring Across Generations. is a MacArthur genius fellow. She is the author of The Age of Dignity, and her work has been featured in the New York Times, Washington Post, and CNN.com.
This event is being coordinated with the Dan and Maggie Inouye Chair in Democratic Ideals and is supported by LaborFest Hawaiʻi.
Hawaii News Now featured Ai-Jen Poo in a recent segment. According to Hawaii News Now, Poo’s early organizing led the way to the passage of the nation’s first Domestic Workers’ Bill of Rights, the 2010 historic legislation that extends basic labor protections to more than 200,000 domestic workers in New York state.
