Students looking for an online course that delves into the the people and histories of the Marshall Islands and also satisfies Writing Intensive (WI) and Contemporary Ethical Issues (ETH) requirements are encouraged to register for HIST 486: Marshall Island Histories: Indigenous, Colonial, Contemporary.
This new online course (CRN 65378), taught by Dr. Monica Labriola, will use a thematic approach to explore the Marshall Islands. Topics include Marshallese origins and historiography, Christian conversions, land issues, colonialism, nuclear testing, decolonization and the Compact of Free Association, migration and diaspora, identity, climate change, and contemporary arts and culture.
