Lā Punua, UH West Oʻahu’s freshman orientation, introduced nearly 300 incoming students to the campus through activities and events designed to help students develop and maintain purposeful and positive relationships with their fellow students, staff, faculty, and administrators. The two-day event ran on August 11-12, and provided students with a glimpse of what UH West Oʻahu offers.

Freshmen learned about developing multicultural awareness and cultural competence and fostering a community of respect and creating safe spaces from “Aunty” Manu Meyer; heard from PUEO mentors about tools and strategies for student success; participated in breakout sessions with faculty and staff; and engaged in campus activities such as intramural sports, kanikapila, and career assessments, and helped out with a community mural.
