UH West Oʻahu Chancellor Rockne Freitas was the surprise guest conductor at the UH West Oʻahu Winter Concert on Saturday, Nov. 28. He conducted the UHWO Band in a lively performance of John Philip Sousa’s “King’s Cotton” for a delighted crowd at the Pearl City Cultural Center.

The UHWO University Band, University Chorus, and Hawaiian Ensemble performed in a first-ever collaborative concert featuring holiday songs, along with special guest, the Mililani High School Chorus, Ke Kūlana Papa Hīmeni o Mililani. UH West Oʻahu students from Dr. David Odhiambo’s class also recited poetry as part of the evening’s events. The concert was made possible by the UH West Oʻahu Humanities Division and the UH West Oʻahu Music Fund.
