The Aloha United Way (AUW) “provides those who want to support collective and sustainable impact with a trusted, transparent and meaningful way to invest in addressing critical issues in our community. Aloha United Way monitors the community impact goals, progress and financials of its partner agencies to ensure dollars are invested wisely to create sustainable and scalable impact.” More than 340 non-profits across Hawaiʻi receive funding through AUW, touching 830,000 lives. Donors are able to designate the charity of their choice when donating through AUW. View the list of AUW donor agencies.

The Aloha United Way is continuing with its e-pledge initiative. Donate online or through Employee Pledge Forms that will be distributed shortly.

UH’s AUW softball tournament pits campus against campus in a friendly competition. The tournament is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 9, from 5 – 10 p.m. at UH Mānoa’s Les Murakami Stadium. Team entry fees and other donations raised during the softball tournament go toward the University’s AUW campaign. Teams from each Oʻahu campus and the UH System administration will compete in a double-elimination tournament for bragging rights and to support our community.

UH West Oʻahu is selling T-shirts to support our softball team in the pursuit of its first tournament title. Proceeds go toward the cost of the team’s entry fee and any additional funds will go toward UH West Oʻahu’s AUW campaign. The T-shirts are $20 each and are available in men’s size small through 4XL. Please contact Christine Neves (cabralch@hawaii.edu, x2773, room D133) or Cindy Vinluan (vinluan@hawaii.edu, x2776, D133) by Sept. 16 to order your T-shirts and arrange to drop off your money.

UH West Oʻahu Director of Communications, Leila Wai Shimokawa, and Intramurals Coordinator, Ryan Perreira, are serving as UH System co-chairs. Sione Thompson, Maile Sing, and Cynthia Lanting are this year’s AUW campus committee. Leila is looking for volunteers to staff the registration and scorekeepers table at the softball tournament. Those interested (and willing and able!) should email Leila at lwai@hawaii.edu.
