Lā Pūnua Orientation Day supports incoming students’ transition into college by exposing you to UH West O‘ahu’s resources, and traditions while connecting you to current and future student leaders in a social environment.
Lā Pūnua is a great way to meet new friends and network, learn about getting involved at UH West Oʻahu, and get connected to the campus before classes even begin! Get ahead and begin your college experience soaring through!
At Lā Pūnua you’ll:
- Meet with your PUEO Leader peer mentor (transfer students will be meeting with other transfer students and UH West Oʻahu advisors)
- Build relationships with other incoming freshman as well as current and transfer students
- Engage in fun breakout sessions with your future professors and student leaders
- Discover campus resources and ways to get involved at UH West Oʻahu

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
This wonderful UH West Oʻahu experience program is FREE (although valued at $30). Parking, the food, refreshments, and the enriching program cost you nothing.
While you’re not expected to bring anything, note-taking materials (e.g. notebook and pencil/pen) would be good. Also, we encourage you to bring and use your smartphones (productively). The program schedule, program updates, and campus resources will be provided to you in a First Year Drive via your UH Email.
Lā Pūnua is focused on getting students acquainted with the UH West Oʻahu campus, faculty and staff, and other fellow UH West Oʻahu students, both returning and new. Since this is the focus of the program, it is highly encouraged that students attend on their own. Family members are welcome to attend ʻOhana (family) sessions that are available during Po‘okela sessions.
