Additional information from the UH West Oʻahu Commencement Committee to spring 2023 candidates for graduation in an email dated March 29:
Parking
NO parking passes or fees are required for entry to the Lower Campus Parking Structure (Zone 20).
- Stalls are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Carpooling is strongly encouraged.
- Handicapped parking is available throughout the parking structure. Guests needing disability assistance may park in the disability parking area on the third floor of the parking structure. From the third floor, a ramp leads directly to the main entrance of the Stan Sheriff Center (on the second floor).
- Visitor green stalls may be available in other areas of the campus for a fee.
Tickets
NO tickets will be issued.
- All guests are welcome to the ceremony on a first-come, first-seated basis.
- Please be advised that only candidates for graduation will be allowed on the arena floor.
- All guests will be restricted to the general seating areas.
- Guests can take photographs and videos from their seats only.
Arena and Stadium Regulations
- Confetti, balloons, large signs, placards, and strollers are not allowed inside the arena for safety and security reasons.
- While giving lei is a Hawaiʻi tradition, we ask that you encourage family and friends attending the commencement to help with our sustainability efforts by leaving the plastic clamshell containers at home or consider using a reusable bag to help reduce the high volume of trash that takes up our garbage cans.
- Additionally, to preserve the athletic fields, potentially damaging shoes (i.e., stiletto heels, metal cleats, etc.) are prohibited.

Aloha Spring 2023 Candidate for Graduation,
Congratulations on the submission of your Graduation Application Form indicating your candidacy for completion of a degree or certificate from the University of Hawaiʻi–West Oʻahu for the Spring 2023 semester.
We’re excited to share with you the news that the Spring 2023 Commencements will be held at the Stan Sheriff Center in Mānoa on Saturday, May 6, starting at 9 a.m. We’re delighted to present a celebration of your accomplishments with lei-giving festivities at the Les Murakami Stadium following the commencement program, with your family, friends, and loved ones.
To participate in the Spring Commencement Ceremony, please complete the Spring 2023 Commencement Registration Form by Friday, April 14, 2023, 4 p.m.

Saturday, May 6, 2023
7:30 to 8:30 a.m.:
Attendees arrive and park in the Lower Campus Parking Structure
Candidates check in at Stan Sheriff loading dock (first floor)
Guests welcomed to the Stan Sheriff Center seating area (second floor)
8:30 to9:00 a.m.:
Pre-ceremony preparation and lineup
9 to 10:30 a.m.:
Commencement ceremony (estimated time)
*Graduates greet guests at the Les Murakami Stadium following the ceremony
*Graduates and guests are asked to clear the Les Murakami Stadium by 12:30 p.m., and the campus by 1 p.m.
Note: All Candidates are required to meet at the Stan Sheriff Center Loading Dock/Security Entrance and should be checked in by 8:30 a.m. Arrival, parking, check-in and pre-ceremony activities will take time, plan accordingly.
The decision to celebrate at the Stan Sheriff Center was based upon feedback from graduates, candidates for graduation, and our desire to maintain a safe environment for all participants, their guests, and campus ambassadors. We believe the change in location will help students and families celebrate and commemorate this amazing milestone in a safe, responsible environment, while attempting to capture what makes UH West O`ahu commencement special and translate that uniqueness to the new location.
- Live Stream: There will be a LIVE stream of the ceremony on the UH West O’ahu homepage. The recording will be available for viewing 2-3 weeks following the ceremony.
- Candidate Registration PDF: After you complete the Spring 2023 Commencement Registration Form you will receive a confirmation email with an attachment, the attachment is your Candidate Registration PDF. PRINT your Candidate Registration PDF and bring it with you to the ceremony. The PDF lists your name, concentration and degree; including pronunciation hints, if necessary for the name reader.
- Regalia (cap, gown and tassel): All candidates must have regalia (cap, gown and tassel) in order to participate in the spring commencement. Please visit the UH West O`ahu Bookstore Grad Store to order/purchase/pick up your regalia prior to ceremony day.
- Honor and Service Stoles or Cords: Candidates planning to wear honor and service stoles or cords should contact your organizations in advance to arrange purchase/pick up prior to ceremony day.

Tuesday, April 4, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Wednesday, April 5, noon to 4 p.m. at the Naulu Center Outdoor Learning Space and Naulu Center – Ho`onanea Room – C132.
Visit with Grad School representatives (Register via Handshake); Schedule a FREE sitting for a professional headshot (regalia or business wear) with PictureMan of Hawai’i (Schedule Photo); Purchase & pick up your Regalia (cap, gown and tassel) from the UHWO Bookstore) and learn more about our transition to the Stan Sheriff Center for our ceremony and the Les Murakami Stadium for lei greeting following the ceremony.
