Learn how to make two popular Filipino desserts in the newest how-to video of the ʻĀina-to-ʻŌpū Workshop series, presented by the University of Hawaiʻi–West Oʻahu Student Organic Garden. The series features produce grown in the garden, or māla.

Join UH West Oʻahu Director of Student Life Rouel Velasco, along with his parents Tito Del and Tita Oma, in their kitchen as they create tupig and bibingka. (Viewers will also get some Ilokano lessons along the way!)

Tupig is a mochi-like dessert with cassava and coconut steamed in banana leaves; the cassava and banana leaves are from the UH West Oʻahu māla. The video includes how to make the sheet-pan version, bibingka. Tupig and bibingka are ideal treats to make — and eat! — this month, which is Filipino American History Month.
