The University of Hawai‘i–West O‘ahu Student Organic Garden Community Workday welcomes volunteers to help tend to the garden and learn how to sow seeds, make compost, transplant seedlings, and more.

The hands-on workdays will be from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, March 1, and April 12 at the garden, or māla, and Hale Kuahuokalā, located on campus adjacent to the Classroom (D) and Laboratory (E) buildings.

Event organizers invite volunteers to join in for a day of fun and sun, to mālama ‘āina together, and strengthen pilina with each other. Participants can take home available produce after the workday, which will be followed by a potluck.

The garden community workdays are open to UH West O‘ahu students, faculty, and staff, and community members. Participants should bring reusable water bottles, use sun protection, and wear close-toed shoes. Please email tasiay@hawaii.edu to RSVP (required) or for more information.
