Assistant Professor of Accounting

I have been with the University of Hawai‘i–West O‘ahu since 2012 and have enjoyed every minute of it.  As an Assistant Professor, I teach Accounting classes, but have been known to step outside of my shell every once in awhile.   I am involved with campus committees including Student Affairs, Assessment and Accounting Club Advisor, with a variety of other responsibilities such as manage the accounting schedule and Lecturers.  Past committees include Prior Learning Assessment (PLA), Faculty Senate, Academic Affairs & Planning, Budget and Resource (BOR), Academic Development Planning (ADP), and Insurance Club Advisor.  But where I have really felt I made a difference is during my FAFSA Volunteer experience at local high schools.   The FAFSA program allows volunteers to help local high school seniors and their families see how to fund college through the completion of financial aid.

I have achieved many life-long goals, one being the 2014-2015 Board of Regents’ Excellence in Teaching Award.  It was a huge honor to receive such a prestigious award and I won’t forget the individuals who helped me gain the knowledge and skills to get where I am today.

Upon graduating from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire with a Bachelors in Business Administration, Accounting and Finance, I choose to complete my Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.  I then decided to earn my Master in Business Administration. Further, I completed my Doctorate in Business Administration from Walden University.

My knowledge and skills as an accounting teacher first started developing during my time as an Auditor for Baker Tilly, LLP.  After learning the ways of a Financial Accountant and obtaining my Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, I decided to teach at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.   These experiences led me to become a financial consultant for small businesses to further my analytical competences. As I continue to assist small start-up companies, I pursued my passion to teach at the University of Hawai‘i–West O‘ahu.
