Free boba drinks, T-shirts, a henna activity, inflatable games, prizes, and much more will be among the highlights at Pueo Pilina, an event for University of Hawai‘i–West O‘ahu students taking place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, March 3, at the Campus Courtyard.
The popular event was created to celebrate students at UH West O‘ahu and to help build connections and relationships, according to organizers. Students from various committees involved in the planning of Pueo Pilina encourage other students to attend for a memorable and meaningful time together.
“This event is a great opportunity to meet and connect with fellow UH West O‘ahu students through engaging activities, refreshments, and more,” Olivia “Liv” Chung said.
“Pueo Pilina is a great way to relax and have fun with friends or meet new people!” Jheanna Carlos added. “It’s one of our liveliest events … and is just a great way to get out there.”
Pueo Pilina — which will be held in the quad area between the James & Abigail Campbell Library and C, D, and E buildings — will include a selection of food and drinks, and feature various games, arts-and-crafts and other fun activities, giveaways, entertainment, and more.
“However, beyond just food and activities, we also strive to encourage students to explore the various Chartered Student Organizations (CSOs), Registered Independent Student Organizations (RISOs), departments, and services available at UH West O‘ahu,” said Jasmine Dumbrigue, who encourages students to take advantage of such campus resources.
Pueo Pilina is coordinated by UH West O‘ahu CSOs — the Associated Students of the University of Hawai‘i–West O‘ahu (ASUHWO), Campus Center Board, Student Activity Fee Board, Student Media Board, and The Hoot.
“From the planning side, seeing all of our hard work come together and seeing the students enjoy what we have to offer and engage in the various activities will be my personal highlight,” Kyra Furukawa said.
Hunter K. Mishina agreed, “I encourage students to attend because we have been working really hard to put this on, and I am sure you will have an amazing time. We have so many things for you to look forward to, so please come by!”
