Connect with others who share a common interest with you — a desire to relax and improve strength, balance, and flexibility — at yoga classes now available this semester on campus to University of Hawai‘i–West O‘ahu students, faculty, and staff.

The free classes are taught by instructor Patricia Carrera, who teach all types of yoga and will teach what students are able to do. The following are details of Carrera’s classes:

  • Monday: 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., C-226
  • Tuesday: 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., C-226
  • Wednesday: 5 to 6 p.m., Nāulu Center
  • Thursday: 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., C-226

“Yoga benefits you,” said Ryan Perreira, UH West O‘ahu’s coordinator of Recreation, Fitness, Wellness and Intramural Sports, and operations manager of the Nāulu Center.

Perreira said yoga can help manage stress, improve sleep, increase energy, brighten moods, benefit heart health, relieve back pain, ease arthritis symptoms, and more.

To attend a yoga class, sign up via this form or via STAR Balance. Yoga mats will be provided, but students are welcome to bring their own. For questions about the classes, email imwest@hawaii.edu. The classes run throughout the spring 2024 semester (the last class is on Thursday, May 2).
