Update, Feb. 25: Those interested in volunteering for Pueo Pilina 2024 may sign up here by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 26.

Banana lumpia, an inflatable obstacle course, T-shirt and tumbler prizes, a student talent show, and much more will be part of the festivities at Pueo Pilina 2024, a celebration of University of Hawai‘i–West O‘ahu students from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 29, at the Outdoor Learning Space and Great Lawn at UH West O‘ahu.

Pueo Pilina is hosted by UH West O‘ahu Chartered Student Organizations (CSOs) — the Associated Students of the University of Hawai‘i–West O‘ahu (ASUHWO), Campus Center Board, Student Activity Fee Board, Student Media Board, and The Hoot. Helping to lead the event are student leaders from the CSOs, Campus Recreation, and the West O‘ahu Broadcasting Association, a Registered Independent Student Organization.

“The aim is to bring our campus community together to foster ‘pilina’ or ‘relationships’ and ‘connections,’ ” said Lindsey Millerd, ASUHWO president and the event’s involvement coordinator. “We hope students can learn about ways to get involved on campus, support small businesses, and have a fun time enjoying food, games, prizes, and entertainment.”

The event will feature more than 15 student clubs, organizations, campus services, academic divisions, and small businesses, such as 831 Cafe and Nails by Nalei. Among the snacks and refreshments offered are treats from Valerio’s Tropical Bakeshop, manapua, and boba drinks. There will also be a scavenger hunt, and activity tables for henna, tote bag painting, and bracelet making.

“Come by to relax and enjoy with friends, and hopefully make some new connections, too!” Millerd said. “Everything is free while supplies last!”

Organizers are also in need of volunteers to help with setup, cleanup, and various jobs during the event. Those interested in volunteering may sign up here by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 26. For details about volunteering or for more information about Pueo Pilina 2024, email gowest@hawaii.edu.
