If you have ever wanted to live and work in Japan, then learn more about the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program — the only teaching exchange program managed by the government of Japan — at an upcoming event at the University of Hawai‘i–West O‘ahu.

The 2024 JET Program Information Session will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17, in D-140. The session is open to UH West O‘ahu students, faculty, and staff, and the general public.

“This information session is a unique opportunity to explore the possibilities of working in Japan as part of the JET Program,” said Gian Otoman, International Programs Coordinator at UH West O‘ahu. “Living and working in Japan can seem like a distant dream to many, but it is totally possible through programs like the JET Program.”

According to the JET Program USA website, the program offers young professionals the opportunity to serve as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) and work in public and private schools throughout Japan; some work as Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs) as interpreters/translators.

Founded in 1987, JET is a competitive employment opportunity that has sent more than 77,000 participants from more than 75 countries around the world (including more than 35,800 Americans) to live and work in cities, towns, and villages throughout Japan.
