The University of Hawai‘i–West O‘ahu Student Organic Garden Community Workday welcomes volunteers to help care for the garden by learning to prepare soil, building compost, installing irrigation, sowing seed, harvesting produce, and more.

The workdays will be from 8 to 11 a.m. on the first Saturdays throughout the spring semester — Feb. 4, March 4, April 1, and May 6 — at the garden, or māla, and Hale Kuahuokalā, located on campus adjacent to the Classroom (D) and Laboratory (E) buildings.

“Join our garden crew for these hands-on workdays — all are welcome,” said garden supervisor Tasia Yamamura. The garden community workdays are open to students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Participants should bring reusable water bottles, use sun protection, and wear close-toed shoes. Please email tasiay@hawaii.edu to RSVP (required) or for more information.
