University of Hawai‘i–West O‘ahu students can get to know the plethora of resources the No‘eau Center offers at its Spring Kick-off, a special event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 25 and 26 in B203 at the James & Abigail Campbell Library or via Zoom.

The two-day event will showcase how accessible tutoring is and help students feel knowledgeable and comfortable with utilizing the No‘eau Center’s services. Students will have the chance to connect with the center’s tutors, student leaders, and staff to foster a safe and open environment for future tutoring appointments.

“Research shows that connecting with others on campus helps college students succeed,” said Dr. Robyn Tasaka, director of the No‘eau Center. “This can include making friends on campus or getting connected to campus resources — both of which students can do at Spring Kick-off!”

Goals for this, and other events include: fostering an improved sense of community for UH West O‘ahu students with the campus, provide quality student centered support services, provide innovative student success programs, and improve persistence and graduation success of UH West O‘ahu students.

The Spring Kick-off event will feature activities such as Wordle and Kahoot, where students can play games with each other and No‘eau student leaders. Prizes will be sponsored by the UH West O‘ahu Student Activity Fee Board (SAFB).

There will also be a Post-It board where students can use Post-It notes to share their thoughts about the semester or other topics. Sample questions include, “What are you looking forward to in the semester?” and “What is your favorite thing about UH West O‘ahu?’” Free snacks will be provided to anyone who stops by and signs in.
