Got questions? The Pueo Virtual Front Desk has answers!

The University of Hawaiʻi–West Oʻahu’s new Pueo Virtual Front Desk, or VFD, provides information, referrals, and express services to students, faculty, staff, and visitors via a high-touch online experience. The VFD officially launched today, Jan. 11 — the first day of instruction for the spring 2021 semester.

“We feel that access to a live team member via virtual services is especially important as we continue to build a beloved community during this time when public safety guidelines have appropriately limited our in-person interactions,” said Loea Akiona, Career Services Coordinator at UH West Oʻahu.

The VFD is a live Zoom meeting with a representative from each of the three main Student Affairs areas: Enrollment Services, Student Development, and Student Engagement, Akiona said.

When visitors click on the VFD link, they will enter the virtual front desk area to check in. Once checked in, visitors will be provided information, moved to the appropriate service provider for live express services, or referred to the appropriate service provider for services outside of the VFD.

The VFD is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and can be accessed via UH West Oʻahu’s website. Access to the VFD will be on most UH West Oʻahu Student Support Services webpages — such as Advising, Admissions, and Financial Aid — with plans to expand with an icon and link on all pages across the UH West Oʻahu website, Akiona said.

Students are encouraged to check it out today.

“We are looking forward to your visit and we will do our best to provide you with the right information then and there, and if not, we will connect you with the right person,” Akiona said. “We look forward to helping you have a great spring semester and an even better 2021!”
