Dr. Lynette M. Williamson, MBA, RHIA, CCS, CPC, FCAHIIM, FAHIMA, is a distinguished health information management (HIM) professional and educator with over 40 years of experience in the HIM field and more than two decades in higher education. Since beginning her HIM career in 1985, she has contributed extensively to healthcare data integrity, compliance, medical coding, and workforce development. She has served as an educator since 2002, preparing future professionals in HIM, medical coding, and healthcare administration through innovative, student-centered teaching and curriculum design.

Dr. Williamson currently holds the position of Associate Professor in the Math, Natural & Health Sciences Division at the University of Hawaiʻi–West Oʻahu. Her commitment to academic excellence is matched by her leadership in national and state-level professional service.

She has served in multiple volunteer and governance roles supporting the HIM profession, including appointments to the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM), the Commission on Certification for Health Informatics and Information Management (CCHIM), and the Hawaiʻi Health Information Association (HHIA), formerly the Health Information Management Association of Hawaiʻi (HIMAH). Her service reflects a deep commitment to maintaining high standards in HIM education, credentialing, and practice.

In recognition of her professional contributions, Dr. Williamson was awarded Fellowship status by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) in 2011. She received the AHIMA Merit Scholarship for Leadership in 2017 and, in 2025, was honored with the CAHIIM Fellowship, acknowledging her sustained impact on HIM program quality and educational advancement.

Throughout her career, Dr. Williamson has been a champion for educational equity, accreditation integrity, and the evolving competencies required in the modern HIM landscape. She continues to support national conversations on workforce readiness, credential alignment, and innovative teaching practices in health information education.
