Garry E. Roy, M.D., M.H.A. has 25+ years of professional experience as a health educator. He was formally trained by JABSOM as a Geriatric Psychiatrist. After several years in private practice and psychopharmacological research, he obtained a master’s in health administration. He has extensive experience training allied healthcare professionals and front-line staff within community health centers, for-profit and non-profit organizations as well as secondary schools and universities. He has experience as a Director of Education at Genesis College in Hawaii and is a current Aiea High School Academy of Health Science Board member. As a health educator, Dr. Roy has an intense desire to ameliorate the health professional shortage in Central Oahu and island-wide through his dedication and leadership. Dr. Roy strives to become an accomplished clinician and academic scholar.
Dr. Roy began his career at UHWO in 2018 as a faculty instructor teaching College and Early College courses. Starting Fall Semester of 2021, he will be an Assistant Professor in Health Information Management, mentor, and HOSA Advisor. His research interests include biometrics and bioinformatics as it relates to mental health disparities and COVID-19. Dr. Roy grew up in New York but has lived in Central Oahu for 28 years.
